Free YKS Resources: ÖSYM Past Papers, MEBİ Mock Exams and Free MEB Courses

ÖSYM and MEB offer more free YKS material than most students know. Here is what each official resource gives you, who can use it and how to build a study plan around it.

Free YKS resources are easy to miss, because most of the advertising you see is for paid books and courses. Yet ÖSYM and the Ministry of National Education (MEB) offer a lot of official material at no cost: every past paper since 2018, video lessons, national mock exams and even free courses at state schools. All of it is in Turkish, so it also trains the language of the exam. In this guide, we look at each official resource, who can use it, what we could not confirm and how to turn it into a plan.

ÖSYM past papers: the most valuable free YKS resources

ÖSYM, the body that runs YKS, publishes the real exam booklets after every exam. Its YKS questions and answers page lists the TYT, AYT and YDT booklets with answer keys for every year from 2018 to 2026. It also keeps the 2018 sample booklet and two 2018 sample YDT booklets, in Russian and Arabic. For 2026, the YDT booklets come in German, Arabic, French, English and Russian.

These papers matter because nothing else shows you real ÖSYM questions, with their exact style, length and difficulty. In addition, the answer keys let you score yourself in nets.

A note on copyright

Every page of the ÖSYM booklets says that ÖSYM owns the copyright and that the questions may not be used without its written permission. That is why we link to the official page instead of copying questions here. So always download the booklets from ÖSYM itself.

MEBİ: MEB’s free exam platform

MEBİ is MEB’s online platform for exam preparation. According to the site, middle and high school students, graduates, teachers and parents can use it free of charge. Here is what it offers:

Lessons: topic videos, written summaries and audio summaries.
Questions: video-solved questions, past-year questions from the last eight years and topic summary books.
Tests: online mock exams and short reinforcement tests.
Planning: a study planner, progress reports, guidance and an AI assistant called “KANKA”.

You log in with an EBA, e-Devlet or MEBBİS account, and graduates use e-Devlet. However, we could not confirm how a foreign graduate without e-Devlet can log in, so check the MEBİ help pages first.

MEBİ mock exams in 2026–27

MEB runs 12 nationwide YKS mock exams in 2026–27, with TYT, AYT and YDT, for 12th graders and graduates. The first one ran on 21–27 September 2026, and the rest continue until June 2027. Students can take them online, while schools can also print QR-coded answer sheets and run them in class. These mocks are popular too: in 2025, the monthly digital TYT mock exams had 152,897 takers, according to MEB.

OGM Materyal: MEB question banks

OGM Materyal is an official MEB platform from the General Directorate of Secondary Education (OGM). In 2024, OGM announced two YKS series there. The first is “3 Adım Soru Bankası”, with 16 books for TYT, AYT and YDT, and the second is “Dört Dörtlük Konu Pekiştirme Testleri”, with 15 books. Each question has a video solution, and students can solve the questions digitally. However, OGM’s announcement does not say whether access is free, so check the terms on the platform itself.

MEB also says that a new skills-based question model for YKS starts in 2028, and it will publish sample questions on OGM Materyal, EBA and MEBİ.

Free MEB courses (DYK) at state schools

MEB also runs support courses, called DYK (Destekleme ve Yetiştirme Kursları), at state schools. The 2026–27 DYK guide states that students and trainees who attend pay no course fee. Graduates of formal and open high schools can join too, as “kursiyer” (trainees). They apply through MEB’s e-Kurs system and log in with e-Devlet. For 2026–27, a provincial MEB calendar showed applications in late July, so ask your school or local MEB office early about the next round.

Free YKS resources are only in Turkish

All of these free YKS resources are in Turkish, from the video lessons to the answer explanations. The Arabic YDT booklet is the only exception, because it tests Arabic as a foreign language. For an Arab student, this is a challenge at first, but it is also a chance, because every video you watch trains the Turkish of the exam.

A practical tip: keep a notebook of exam words, for example stems such as “aşağıdakilerden hangisi” (which of the following) and “değinilmemiştir” (is not mentioned). After a few weeks, the same question patterns start to look familiar.

How to use free YKS resources well: a six-step plan

Measure your level first. Solve one past TYT booklet in 165 minutes, then score it with the answer key.
Fix weak topics with MEBİ. Use its videos and summaries for the topics where you lost the most nets.
Practise by topic with older papers. The 2018–2023 papers work well for topic practice, while you keep the newest papers for full mocks.
Join the MEBİ mock exams. Treat the national mocks as checkpoints, and compare your nets each time.
Do full timed mocks before the exam. In the last months, solve the 2024–2026 papers under real time limits.
Review every mistake. Write down why you lost each net, and then go back to that topic.

What free YKS resources cannot do

Free YKS resources give you excellent material, but they cannot plan your year for you. Nobody checks your nets, explains a topic again when you are stuck or tells you when to change your plan. In addition, a student whose Turkish is still new may struggle to follow the videos at first. That is why many students combine official material with a teacher or a course.

Are ÖSYM past papers really free?

Yes. ÖSYM publishes the TYT, AYT and YDT booklets with answer keys as free PDF files on its website. The copyright stays with ÖSYM, so download them from the official page.

Can foreign students use MEBİ?

MEBİ is free for students and graduates, and it accepts EBA, e-Devlet and MEBBİS logins. However, we could not confirm how foreign graduates without e-Devlet log in, so check with MEBİ first.

Are free YKS resources enough to prepare?

They can be enough for a disciplined student with good Turkish. Still, most students also need someone to plan their study, check their nets and explain difficult topics.
