The YKS exam date is the first thing students write on their calendar. It sets the length of your study plan and the deadlines for registration. As of October 2026, ÖSYM has not yet published its 2027 calendar, but the pattern of recent years is very clear. This guide shows the expected 2027 dates, how to register as a foreign student, the fees and the rules for exam day. We will update it as soon as ÖSYM announces the official dates.

Has ÖSYM announced the YKS exam date for 2027?

Not yet. ÖSYM normally publishes its calendar for the next year in November. You can check it anytime on ÖSYM’s exam calendar page. Until then, be careful with websites that give exact 2027 dates, because they are only guesses.

What the last three years tell us

The pattern has stayed the same since 2024:

  • 2024: exam on 8–9 June, and applications in February.
  • 2025: exam on 21–22 June, applications from 6 February to 3 March.
  • 2026: exam on 20–21 June, applications from 6 February to 2 March, results on 21 July.

Each year, TYT took place on Saturday morning, while AYT and YDT took place on Sunday. Therefore, the most likely picture for 2027 is applications in early February and the exam on a weekend in June, with results in July.

The expected 2027 calendar

Based on this pattern, here is what to expect, step by step:

  1. November 2026: ÖSYM publishes the 2027 calendar with the official YKS exam date.
  2. Early February 2027: applications open for about three and a half weeks.
  3. June 2027: TYT on Saturday at 10:15, then AYT at 10:15 and YDT at 15:45 on Sunday.
  4. July 2027: results, followed by the preference period (tercih).
  5. August 2027: placement results and university registration.

How to register as a foreign student

First, you register on ÖSYM’s system during the application period. Students with a Turkish ID card can apply online through e-Devlet. Foreign students usually apply in person at an ÖSYM application centre, using their 11-digit foreign ID number that starts with 9. If you do not have one, ÖSYM gives you a candidate number that starts with 0.

In 2026, the fee was 700 TL per session, so TYT alone cost 700 TL and all three sessions 2,100 TL. ÖSYM also opened late application days with a 50% higher fee. Since fees change each year, check the 2027 guide when ÖSYM publishes it. Our guide to YKS for foreign students explains who must take the exam.

Exam-day rules to remember

On exam day, arrive early, because the doors close on time. In 2026, candidates could not enter the building after 10:00 for the morning sessions or after 15:30 for YDT. Bring a valid photo ID, such as your passport, Mavi Kart or temporary protection ID card; ÖSYM’s guide lists every accepted document. Also leave your phone and other devices at home.

Use the time until the exam

Counting back from a June YKS exam date, a student who starts in the autumn has about eight months. That is enough for a full plan, for example: TYT foundations in autumn, AYT topics in winter and weekly practice exams from March. Our YKS study plan gives the month-by-month details, and our complete YKS exam guide explains the exam itself.
